1. About VM Roofing

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of roofing services by VM Roofing, a sole trader operating from:

VM Roofing
51 Bishops Park Rd
Gateshead
NE8 3FF
United Kingdom

Telephone: 07463 486342

By accepting a written quotation from VM Roofing, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Quotations

All quotations are provided in writing and remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated. Quotations are based on the information and access available at the time of the survey. VM Roofing reserves the right to revise a quotation if, upon commencement of work, unforeseen defects or additional requirements are identified. Any variation to the quoted scope of work will be agreed with you in writing before additional work proceeds.

A quotation does not constitute a contract. A contract is formed when you provide written or verbal acceptance of the quotation and VM Roofing confirms a start date.

3. Prices and Payment

  • All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
  • For projects over £1,000, a deposit of up to 30% may be requested prior to the commencement of work to cover material costs. The deposit amount will be stated in the quotation.
  • The remaining balance is due upon satisfactory completion of the works, unless a payment schedule has been agreed in writing.
  • Payment is accepted by bank transfer or cash. Cheques are not accepted.
  • Invoices not settled within 14 days of the due date may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

4. Access and Site Conditions

You agree to provide VM Roofing with safe and reasonable access to the property for the duration of the works. This includes, where applicable, the ability to park our vehicle within close proximity to the property.

VM Roofing will take reasonable care to protect your property during works. Where scaffolding or access equipment is required, this will be stated in the quotation. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage to guttering, fascias, ceilings, or interior surfaces that is identified or becomes apparent during works.

If work is delayed due to circumstances outside VM Roofing's control — including severe weather, restricted access, or third-party delays — revised timescales will be communicated as soon as reasonably practicable.

5. Materials

VM Roofing will source and supply all materials required for the quoted works unless otherwise agreed. Materials specified in the quotation may be substituted with an equivalent alternative of equal or greater quality in the event of supply issues, in which case you will be informed before the substitution is made.

Materials supplied by the customer are used at the customer's risk. VM Roofing accepts no liability for defects arising from customer-supplied materials.

6. Workmanship Guarantee

VM Roofing provides a 10-year written workmanship guarantee on all roofing installations and full replacements. Repair works are covered by a 2-year workmanship guarantee. Both guarantees cover defects arising solely from VM Roofing's workmanship and do not cover:

  • Damage caused by extreme weather events (storm force winds, flooding).
  • Damage caused by third parties, including other contractors.
  • Fair wear and tear over time.
  • Defects arising from customer-supplied materials.
  • Structural movement of the building itself.

The workmanship guarantee is transferable to a new owner in the event of a property sale, subject to written notification to VM Roofing. Manufacturer warranties on materials are separate to the VM Roofing workmanship guarantee and are subject to each manufacturer's own terms.

7. Insurance

VM Roofing holds public liability insurance to the value of £5,000,000 per occurrence. A certificate of insurance is available on request prior to commencement of any works. We recommend that you inform your home insurer that roofing works are taking place.

8. Cancellation

You may cancel a confirmed booking by giving at least 48 hours' notice in writing (by phone message or email). Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a charge to cover direct costs already incurred, such as materials ordered or scaffolding erected.

VM Roofing reserves the right to postpone or cancel works if site conditions present a risk to health and safety, or if access cannot be obtained.

9. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our work, please contact us as soon as possible so that we have the opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue. All complaints should be made in writing to the address above or by telephone to 07463 486342. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.

If a dispute cannot be resolved directly between the parties, we agree to consider independent mediation before pursuing any legal proceedings.

10. Limitation of Liability

VM Roofing's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the services shall not exceed the total contract value paid for the works giving rise to the claim. We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss including loss of profit or business interruption.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any matter that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

VM Roofing may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time your quotation is accepted shall apply to that contract. The date at the top of this page indicates when the current version was last revised.
